The KB will blow away the PI swap. It really boils down to how much $ you are willing to pay. Good luck either way.

The pi swap can wake your car up but a supercharger will put it on steriods. Vote for KB.

better heads, better cams, and the kb. now that would be a mean setup. anyone really know if the pi heads bump the compression to where its really not good to go with a blower? i mean, a pi swap onto a npi bottom end gives it a compression only slightly higher than a complete pi engine. and pi's are running kb's like no other. just a thought.

Blower.

Have you priced other blowers to doing a PI swap? Just curious as to weather it would be cheaper to go with a Centri over going with either of the other options.

PI swap raises compression to 10.5:1, which is a good CR for N2O but not S/C or turbo. You could always pick up some dished pistons, and forge your whole bottom end, then blow it. Otherwise, with your '96 you have a great platform to make a quick N/A GT (MPH stage 2.5 heads, P-51 intake, VT/Comp/Crower cams, long tubes, TB and plenum, gears etc) but with all that money, you could have bought a KB. Its all preference!

Go with the KB for the NPI. That and a set of blower cams will make you NPI rock.

It took me a while to decide what I was going to do with my 98 non PI car , I decided on a built 4.6 with stage2 PI heads, 278 comp cams, forged pistons, and top it off with a 100 shot of giggle gas , I think it will work out ok, if all goes well 400 or so at the rubber will be great for the chump change I'll have in it . Less than 2 grand total, yea under 2 thousand TOTAL, quality used parts are hard to come by, but is awesome when they do.

Id personally have the NPI heads ported, add a set of PI cams and valve train if money is tight and go with the NPI Kenne Bell Kit. You'll perform every bit as well as the '99-up guys with the same blower and save some money in the process.
