OK here we go.
1st
It requires 5-10 minutes of giving it gas in different amounts to stay running and warm up. After a 5-10 minute warmup the engine runs fine. But during this period when you have to give it gas you will here what sounds like backfiring through the intake. Any suggestions on where to start with this? My other 2.3 is an 89 so this car is a bit different.

2nd
The car bogs till what feels like 2200-2500rpms then begins to slowly take off. No doubt that this is a 22-24 second 1/4 mile beast right now. I am thinking the exhaust might be clogged up a bit. We only paid 500 for this car so its not a bad deal.

The signals only slightly work. when you flip on left or right turn signal the signals will get bright then fade then start rapidly turning on and off but never completely either off or on.

So far those are the only problems I have found.

SOME IMMEDIATE HELP IS APPRECIATED!!!!

Wow took me a while to get back to this thread and site.
So wow now I am a founding member NICE!

On the car.

Its a 93 so no distributor. It uses coil packs. I tried to check timing but my timing gun died it seems. Vacuum seems fine. also call me lazy but where is the flasher unit on 91-93 stangs?

Also man flowmasters sound like crap on these cars!!! A dynomax super turbo will go on this one like it did on my 89 2.3 Coupe!!!

The white one is the 93 and its the g/f's new beater.

Just for your info... Backfire in the intake is usually caused by a very lean condition or...your cam timing could be off. Also, the 4cyl cars are SEFI SD not MAF, last I looked at mine anyway. So, it could be a temp sensor acting up.

yeah at idle when cold you have to give her gas but sometimes you will start hearing what sounds like backfiring through the intake. But after she warms up its just a bog until around 2500rpms or so.

I would just run the codes but the bog is so bad its almost dangerous to drive on the road....

as far as the SD MAF part.....

SD 87-90 I believe
then
MAF 91-93

though supposively 90 Cali cars are MAF....
We are going to try putting the new exhaust on it since it didnt get any louder with the catback and without it. So I am thinking clogged cat. After that will try the IAC then if that doesnt fix it we will drive the thing up and have the codes ran on it.
