Today my dad ordered some gears from the Ford dealership down the road and I picked them up. It ended up being $2 more than ordering them online from gefracing.com so I paid $157 in the end. What do geats normall come with? I got some shims and a pinion nut with mine. Will I need a pinion spacer for my rearend?

And what tooth speedo gear will I need?

Well, what gear do you have in there right now? And you will need to know what drive gear you have on the transmission. D&D has a good table for that stuff, i think it's at ddperformance.com

Have you changed your tire size in the rear, or is it still stock?

Reason I asked is that I changed my tire size in the rear and put new gears from my 3:08's to the 3:73's also.

I was told that getting a new http://www.brothersperformance.com/shop/mustang/brospeedcal.html

would solve my speedometer issues.

A speedcal is probably your best bet since you have changed tire/wheel sizes. For the gear swap it would be a good idea to pick up a new pinion bearing and pinion seal. Also, since you were having the problems with the stock differential, you should pick up a new clutch packs from Ford and rebuild the diff too.

Order a speedo gear from cjponyparts or somewhere if your tight for cash. your speedo will still be off, but not nearly as much. I got mine for $16-17 and I did the same thing as you (2.73's to 3.73's), my speedo is off maybe 4-5 mph on the highway, nothing I can't live with.

Yeah, bit expensive. I guess you have to order it over the phone also. They program it too figure out your before setup and then they put in the new setup.

I would get the speedo gear in your case. I think its the 23tooth gear also.

Thanks for the site. I'm not too worried about if its off a little bit but dont want it to be way off. I had my dad order a new clutch pack for my car from the ford dealership and I'll have all the parts tonight (minus the speedo gear) to start the install. Hope to install them tomorrow after school or on saturday.
