UDATE! Pics of the new C-4 also! Alright I decided to create this thread because of all the intake manifold threads....and they all come down to the professional products one(Typhoon) from www.rpmoutlet.com
the HPS one from www.hiperformancesolitions.com .
Neither are out yet, but are SUPPOSEDLY about to be.
And EDIT the www.purpleracing.com intake(AKA the C-4) , that apparently is being shipped NOW. Only problem is the guy lives in freegin TURKEY...yes thats right.

Now I see that alot of people are unaware of one or the other, and really dont know the differences.
Now to keep this from me bashing one or the other, I will post pics (or links to pics) so you can determine yourself which is better.
But I will give a little history and what I know about both..., but wont give my opinion until it comes to which I am buying.

First up, here is the picture of the PP aluminum one. View attachment 488181

From what I can gather, its basically a stock reproduction to OEM specs. But when they say its, "developed in conjunction with one of the leading mustang specialists" im not to sure what to think of that, and hints that its not an EXACT duplicate...so there may be some slight differences, but again, they are not clear. It also appears to have about the same dementions and overal design. But you can take it apart in 3 sections, so it should be very easy to port.

Now the C-4.

Looks to be VERY well designed, and has plenty of inner plenum volume. Also appears to be P&Pd. It costs $899 though:( . Runners look healthy too. Their website has ALL the info on it.

And here is the HPS.

Now right off the bat you can clearly see the difference of how much space the runners have to breathe from. You can also see that the runners are shorter than stock (= more highend HP)....and the owner has confirmed both of these things. And stated that the inner plenum volume is 3 times larger than stock...and I can believe it lol. This one only has 2 parts, but it looks like you can get to everything fairly well for porting. Especially since the runners are shorter.

MY OPINION! Why im buying what.

I will be buying the HPS version because it is noticable different than the stocker, and you can tell it is geared for more high performance. It definatly has some R&D in it....and the runners can also be shortened even more, for further tunability. I also like the huge volume for the runners to breath from, but it would take an expert to say exactly what that does. And its not purple:shrug: .

Discuss, and thanks for reading :nice: .

Taken from the HPS web site about the 96-98NPI head/intake fitment.

"PI to non-PI adapters. Looks like we found a plastic that will handle the heat. The
adapters will replace the gasket all together. It will have gasket material an both
sides and clearance issues won't be a problem! The billet adapters were too bulky
and clearances were an issue."

SOOO it looks like this WILL work with NPI heads easily if you buy the adapter, which im sure will be out at the same time. :D

BTW its supposed to be around $600 for just the intake. So about like the PP one, but dont quote me. They will also sell a package with the plenum and intake as a package. Again, dont quote me, but im thinking $699 for that.

Don't forget about the others that are supposedly being developed.

BBK was working on one last summer.

Dragon is also working on a lower

Purple Racing also has one in development but has had some setbacks...

Ok it's time for the no0b post lol...but hell, you live and learn, right?

If these intake manifolds are SOON to come, what are most 4.6L members using for aftermarket mani's? What intakes are available that prove the most free flowing runners and HP? AND....what gains are expected from these intakes? After all, you'd expect SOMETHING for $650 lol....

Tanner

Well, at this moment, I'm just crossing my fingers. as we've seen many in the past that are "comming soon"(for the past few years anyway).
I personaly likw the PHP myself. But if(and thats big IF) BBK is comming out with one, I would like to give it shot, as I trust BBK have far more experience on Mustang then others....

thats again, If I ever see one comming out...

Im going to email some of these guys, and see whats happening. And why they have been jacking us around so much.

Tanner, the best I can gather is they range from 5HP (stock bullitt) to "claims" of 17 with the P51. P&Pd bullitt guys have seen gains of around 12-15 from what I hear...N/A. But dont quote that.

probably because they begin R&D on said product, and announce an anticipated release date. then further down the road while testing they realize it offers either A) minimal power or B) even less power than the stock manifold. So they realize releasing a part thats more durable (aluminum vs. plastic), but offers minimal, if any, power gains compared to the stock manifold may not be in the best interest for sales. So its back to the drawing board.

Just a possible explanation

Here is the thread. http://forums.mightymustangs.net/index.php?showtopic=4468&st=20
The guy making the Purple Racing Intake (Omar) is a long time member over on Corral. A few of the members actually have prototype intakes for R&D right now. We have a lenthy thread about this intake going on Corral.net i'll find it and link it later...
