So i started buffing out the coupe here are some before and after pics.and yes they are from diffrent spots of the car but the hood looked the same way.

WOW.

Hmmm...

Wouldn't want to help me get all the damn swirls out of my car would you? The detailing guy I spoke with yesterday said it would be around $300 for him to do it.

I spent 2 days on the car and couldn't get rid of them. They aren't deep at all, but then I'm also no expert either. I can put a mean coat of wax on, but still have a lot to learn.

yeah i love doing this type of stuff.let me get the coupe done .i am needing to get another buffer in the morning.one thats got a few more RPM so it can cut the car better. have you been using a cutting compoud or just a swirl remover. i am using meguiars dimond cut compound 2.0 to cut the car its the heavist the have.but if you use it you need a good buffer.

Haven't used an actual cutter. I don't think I was doing it right to begin with...as far as getting the scratches removed anyway.

I need to give the car a good claybarring, then perhaps use the "cutter" you mentioned. I have an orbital that my g/f got me for XMas last year, still haven't used it yet though. Too nervous to use it, always done everything by hand till now.

What do you suggest on how to remove swirls? Forgive me if I'm running over your topic here...I could take it to PM's if needed.

the clay bar is good for removing crap from the paint like pitch and other road grim.a cutting compound used with a high speed buffer will cut into the top layer of the clear coat and remove all the oxidation .if you are going to use a buffer make sure it has a good RPM range with a max of 3000 for cutting the paint if its real bad.like my coupe.if its not to bad you can use a light cut for getting out your swirl marks.if you try it do it on a small section .to see if it gets what you want done.and if its not go to the heavy cut.they have 3 stages of cutting compound mine is the 10 the heaviest. so the light is beteewn a 3@5 and the heavy is around a 7 for cutting.i think.hope this helps.

It does help, I'll take a look at my buffer and see what it is exactly.

What do you recommend using for the pad on the buffer?

Also, I've seen many Meguairs products...but never anything with "cutter" on the label and different strengths of it. Where can I buy it?

baxters has the best varity.as for a pad i would use the fury hair looking pad .and the use another of the same pad to remove it .i think that works the best.

drive over to nw auto paint in 5 corners, they will come outside, look at your car and show you your options.

becarefull and go slow!!! too fast and too much pressure on a highspeed buffer and its easy to burn the paint btw the coupe looks great man!

thanks still not their yet .i think i am going to try to color sand the rear deck lid and see how that goes.
