Hey guys....

I have a 88gt (body kit) and i'm trying to figure out how my exhaust should be set up.....i want it to look good and sounds good (loud) ....any suggestions?....how would it look going straight back through the body kit of my 88gt?....and if there's a way to have them not go through the body kit, then how would i make it look good? any suggestions? thanks everybody!!!

pros - they look cool & they are the street legal alternative to dumps if you have a panhard bar that doesn't clear tailpipes.

cons - the exhaust makes a 180* turn at the muffler and then another 90* out the side...probably not too good for flow. also they are much louder for the driver, especially when driving along a barrier wall.

oh i see....(louder for the driver, especially when driving along a barrier wall) ouch....i never took that into consideration.....but i'd love to just have my exhaust run straight back....but i'm trying to get an idea on how it'd look going through the ground effects, and how it'd look not going through the ground effects.....

Do what I did, sell your GT rear bumper and put on a 93 Cobra rear. Then you can run the Stainless Steel Cobra/LX style pipes. Plus it makes the car lookand sound more aggressive, especially from behind. One of the best things I ever did to my GT!

That what I would do too. It kinda ruins it for me when I see a nice GT with cutouts for the tail pipes (of course, that the reasonI prefer LX's to GT's in the first place, I like to see a set of pipes comin out the back ) The 93 cobra bumper option is nice, looks pretty good. I'm sure I have a picture somewhere, If I can figure out how to post it I will!

You could put dumps on it I like when GT's dont have any tailpipes coming out the back. The bumper hangs to low to make tailpipes look good. IMO It'll be really really loud.

Cobra bumpers look killer with stainless steel pipes coming out the back.

If you do get a cobra bumper dont be cheap, get a good one from cervinis. Ive had the biggest pain trying to get mine to look good, shoulda spent the extra 50 bucks and got it from cervinis.

Definitely get a Cobra rear bumper and run stainless pipes!! It looks terrible when people run exhaust through there bumper or cut out GT bumpers!

It was $250 plus like $78 shipping. I checked with all the companies that make Cobra bumpers, including ABCExclusive because my 4" cowl hood is made by them and is made really well. Once I had checked with everyone and got shipping quotes, the Cervini bumper was the best overall deal, since they are the closest company to me. They are outside of N.J. and most of the other companies are in Texas. So it was only like $20 more to get the Cervini's bumper plus shipping than with the other companies shipped....and since it's pretty much a known fact that Cervini's is the best, I figured $20 was worth it to get the best. It is very nice, fit well, lined up with everything, and was easy to install.... so, no regrets here.
