How to get moisture out of the inside of my headlight?! This is my third set and have no clue why it keeps filling up with moisture! I took the bulb out and let it sit overnight. It will dry, but fog right up again when I put the bulb back in it. Any advice? I have the Black Beauty's... From 50resto...

drill 2 or 3 small holes in the bottom of the housing so it can run out. i had to do this to my 88 gt's, they kept fogging up and poping bulbs.

My first set of aftermarket headlights (projectors) used to fog alot so after i pulled it out and dried it up i sealed it with clear silicone all the way around. That did the trick. When i switched to the clear Cobra's i put the silicone on them before installing and haven't had any fogging. Just get a good bead of it where the clear lense meets the rear housing...hope this helps.

I've tried the hole in bottom of light method. Works great on my 5.0's headlights

I replaced one of my headlights for the exact same reason...I just weather-stripped the crap out of the new 1 and I haven't had an issue.

now for the guys that drilled the holes, does it drain out the condensation or does it allow proper venting for air inside?

Both.


Before i drilled, my driver's headlight would fill completely with water ad burn out bulbs. I would shake the water out but it would leave condensation inside.

After drilling the holes, it allows any water to drain out and enough ventilation that the moisture that is evaporated by the headlight can flow outside and not condense on the inside.

thanks, i was asking because i got the problem with a clear (pass) side marker, i've did a leak test on it and there's no cracks or leaks where the lens meets the assembly, BUT it does have one vent hole in it, I'm going to try the drilling method, how many holes did you put in/ how big?

i did 3 3/8 holes in the headlight housing, but side markers u might wanna go a lil smaller.

I did three 1/8" holes in the bottom. One center and two at the outside edges

I'm gonna drill a few just for the hell of it next time mine are out. Thats actually a good idea.
