pin connector cleaning help

i have been doing a lot of research on cleaning the 10 pin connector. i saw from multiple posts that you should use electrical contact cleaner or non flammable brake part cleaner. well i went to 2 auto parts stores and all of the brake cleaner was flammable and even the electic part cleaner was flammable.

what is everyone using? i picked up some anti flammable, anti corrosive lubricating spray at radio shack. would that work?

also, when you clean them, should i just spray or should i be using some thing to wipe down?

i did as much research before hand as possible but am still confused.

Thanks for all the help

Just get some of this stuff from oreilly's or autozone Amazon.com: CRC QD Electrical Contact Cleaner Aerosol: Automotive. It's flammable coming straight out of the can but evaporates quickly and leaves no residue at all that could possibly ignite. Just make sure you disconnect the neg. battery cable first and you'll be just fine using the qrc cleaner. Make sure you get the kind with the picture of a connector on the front and not the taller one with the picture of a alternator on it that sh-it will eat your connectors up like sulphuric acid:eek:

The Radio Shack stuff will work fine. It's just more expensive than the other alternatives.

You mean that DeOxit stuff they have right? I bought some DeOxit d100 cleaner and DeOxit Shield on amazon but I'm going over every connector on my 95 gt. I've replaced a lot of broken factory connectors that I could find replacements for. Some of my busted main wiring harness connectors aren't for sale anywhere now though in which case I've rewired each individual wire with it's own bullet connector.
