I noticed my car was pinging a lot today even under a light load. This was after 30 minutes of stop and go traffic. I do notice it other times to. Should I lower my timing or add more fuel?

What are your fuel settings and where is your timing set at?

Did you change brands of gas or anything different?

Too little fuel and too much timing can and will definatly cause it.

I backed my timing down about 2* when it started at the track, didnt have a problem since.

Went to the dyno, bumped it up 2-3* and added fuel, hasnt pinged since then.

If your timing is advanced a bit I would try adding a little more fuel if it is set a little on the lean side.

How much fuel should I add?

I dont know exaclty.

Im using Diablosport, so they are probaly a little different... I richened mine up several numbers when I was on the dyno, and it did not make a huge difference in the A/F ratio.

I would add a little, take it out and see if it pings. If so, add a little more.

I would back the timing down a little first though.

I don't no what my timing or fuel ratio is set at. I got the tune from Tim (MPH). All I know is that it’s the 93 oct tune. I will try bringing down the timing.

how's your EGR?

I know my GT certainly is not a rocket, but I'm more than happy to run 87 in the tank especially at 3.35 a gallon.

Fords also seem to have a carbon problem. A good steam cleaning might cure your problems.

I guess my EGR is fine. How can I tell if it's not?

Have you changed your fuel filter recently? Changing mine helped my pinging problem.

Throwing out another option.
