Need to get this bolt out so I can remove the axle c clip and get the axle out. The bolt is so damn tight and will not break loose. We have tried the proper wrenches and vise grips and of course the frickin small head is now rounded off.

Anybody ever drill one of these out or got any other ideas how to get it out. One way or another its got to come out.

I had the answer for you untill you said it was rounded. If it was not rounded yet, all you have to do is put your wrench or ratchet on the bolt head and turn the tire (axel). The wrench will hit the diff case and mechanical advantage will turn the bolt. Good luck

Well you got yourself into a pickle I must say. I soaked mine in PB blaster for a minute or two, and it came out somewhat easily. What size wrench were you using??? I seem to remember having some trouble with a 8mm wrench, so I used a 8mm 1/4 drive socket and it worked great. 8mm is appx. a 5/16" but the 8mm was a little tighter I believe.

They have an adapter for rounded heads from sears. Here is a link to sears site, and it has one for a 5/16 - 8mm hex head. That might be your only choice now. I would be extremely careful using this tool, as it's your last resort before drilling. Don't torque too hard with it, as you will lose what little head you have left.

How much of the screw is visible? I seem to remember it not being flush, where you could see the shaft of the bolt....I think I am wrong though.

At my work, you can get this stuff called Buster, which works extremely well. But if you can't find it (manufacturer is armchem, they sell it by the case), I think pb blaster might do the trick (get it at napa, etc). Soak it for an hour, try loosening it and if it won't move, respray it again...keep doing it until it busts loose.
