It's time to buy a drive shaft and I want to upgrade my 9 inch's pinion yoke to 1350 u-joints. I not too long ago had the gears set up with a solid spacer instead of a crush sleeve.

Quesiton is: Can I just remove the old pinion yoke, install the new one, torque to spec and call it good?

Thanks!

f you were going to change just the seal, I'd say yes. If you change the yoke, I'd be a little more weary. If the yoke is a little longer than you old one (only talking a few thou here), then it could over preload the bearings.

A longer yoke should have no effect on the bearing preload. If it's longer, the only thing that will change is the depth the trans yoke goes into the tranny. All the shims for preload are between the bearings and the yoke length has nothing to do with that.

Guess I should change my log in name since my car is no longer blue.
