Ok I just got this pinto, it is setup for a 289/302 but came with a 351w I am trying to deside what motor to put in there. It has a c4 and a mustang 8"rear end. I dont know wither to make the 351 fit or sell it for a 302, or I could drop the 2.3t I have in storage with a holset on it. help me deside.

I say go with a turbo either way, 302, or obviously a 2.3 turbo. If its already set up for a v8, it would be easier to put a 302 in there. Just think of the power to weight ratio with that turbo 5.0!

Id say the V8 to 2.3 swap can usually be accomplished over a weekend.

Well it sounds like your set on putting a 2.3 in there. Good luck with the swap and the build!!!

Go 2.3T! Talk about power to weight ratio. That and there may even be room in there to work on it if somthing blows up.

I think trying to build a turbo 302 setup into a Pinto would be an exercise in self-torture and eventually self-destruction once you had a 500hp/500lb-ft V8 in a 2300lb car. I saw one at the drags with a healthy NA 302 doing low 11s.

I plan on getting a pre-'74 Pinto(smog exempt) and doing a TC swap. The SVO is my semi-restoration car, so a Pinto would get the MegaSquirt, FMIC, Holset.....

the car already had a 289 in it once, so a v8 is a simple drop in bolt up prosedure, Im a lazy person by nature so a v8 will most likely go back in. Then I will make sure it is the loudest meanest scaryest pinto in town!(to make it scary all I have to do is disconect the brakelights )

What do you mean, no Pinto? It's on hold now or you have to sell it?
