Well I think I'm finally gonna do it... Taking my car to the track and do a couple runs.

Scheduled to go Friday the 27th (This Friday my daughter has a soccer tourny).

Never done it before and any pointers would be appreciated.

Have fun!

Oh, my advice is get there early and be first in line when they start. You'll get more runs in that way because once the crowd starts showing up it can be over an hour between runs.

Drive around the water and just spin your tires to clean them off if you are running street tires.

Thanks!

I plan on running 4 or 5 times. I'm hoping to run in the mid 13's but I'll be happy if I get stock numbers.

If you hit 13's, you'll need a helmet.

It's addictive fun! I'm planning on going this Friday (June 20th).

In regards to your racing spring comment. I intend to get LCA lowering brackets (won't have them by next Friday). Would this help my traction issue? I have the impression it will...

10$ for a number good for the year- check

Yup... $10 for your racing number, plus $25 to race. So, $35 your first time out. I don't know if they'll take a check.... I think they just take cash.

On a side note... anyone heading out tonight?

they will help with getting traction back. but because of the spring rate of racing/lowering springs. you lose a lot of weight transfer to the rear tires. how many true drag car do you see with really stiff rear suspension and how big are there slicks with how many HPs do they have. now a lowered stang looks way better

They don't look for driveshaft loops, at least they never did on my Cobra even when I was in the 12's...

and i think no matter what times you run if you have slicks you are required to have a drive shaft loop also. but all the times i went with slicks they never once checked for my loop.they asked and i told them yes theres one there! peace

Best time last nigt was 13.899... If I can get my launch down I should be able to get to 13.5-6 times....

Had a blast!!! Will probably go again in August...

I went down the track with the Purple Dakota that blew his engine. I was suprised he ran considering it didn't sound all that healthy (belt whine/slippage)... Thing was fast and would have toasted me if he didn't leave parts all over the track... Also went up against a girl in a red Z06 (she kept going back and forth driving the Z06 and a GT500 with her boyfriend). I think she got a 12.6...

Everybody's 60' times were in thw 2.x range (Purple Dakota hit a 1.9xx)

Thanks to everyone that gave me pointers...

One last thing... I pissed off the dude that runs the lights (x-mas tree). I came across the line twice and on the second time he told me I better stop. I looked around and realized my stupidity that there was a second line I hadn't notice I was suppose to stop in front of during my burn out. Lesson learned!!! Part of me was pissed at the fact he was such a jackass but then I thought If I had cars come flying in my direction I wouldn't be too pleased either.

13.8 for your first time out is outstanding! It was a warm day too, wasn't it?

Don't worry about the fellow that runs the lights. He deals with that stuff all the time with newbies. Now you know not to do that again!

Great job getting out there!
