my car wont stop leaking oil. ive tried stop leak and engine restore in the oil and made sure my oil filter was on tight enough, still leaks. front seal and where the bellhousing is theres oil all over that haning about to drip. pretty much all my gaskets are bad.

my seat lean has gotten horrible, and it hurts my back everytime i drive my car

i just spent 44 dollars getting a rearview mirror 2 day air shipped because my dad wouldnt shut up about me getting one. i moved it when i was cleaning my winshield and it broke off and fell on my shifter and broke the glass.

passenger side door lock actuator doesnt work, it freezes. cars always unlocked.

its slow, i cant even beat my friends stock 96gt with bad clutch.

black interior means i sweat when i drive my car period.

brakes starting to squeak, and they fade quick when they get hot.

still needs paint

both doors leak when it rains

drivers door sags

oh yeah and i quit my good paying job a while ago to get a job with less hours, so now i dont have that much money to fix all this **** with.

i feel like selling my damn car im so mad at it. i keep trying to fix it but stuff keeps getting worse. and 96-98 gts are looking good to me right now.

i also hate driving it allot becasue i want subframes really badly before the chassis starts making a ton of noise. but who can afford that with the list above?

what do i do? 2nd job, sell, im lost.

well to be honest.. do you honestly have the ability and money to fix it? you may very well be taking on a bigger job/car than you thought.. it all depends on wether your willing to sacrifice comfort for the car..

also if your thinking about selling your car.. im interested.. otherwise good luck with it

ha now im gonna get offers. i know the comfort sacraficing thing, but this is allot.

should i take my seat out and fix the frame and have it reupholstered? can i get a black sport GT seat new? whatabout some of those summit seats?

the oil looks like its coming from where the bellhousing meets the block, on that metal flashing hanging down.

ok im gonan prove it to you, hang on while i get pics

sounds like you got a rear main seal leak, dont feel bad every 5.0 in existance has a rear main seal leak, as far as the seats go, I think you can just bolt em in. (the gt seats)

Make a list and do one thing at a time, before you know it, your car will be all better again.

the circle shows hwo the door sags, which has made the weatherstripping not normal, and the red line is where the water sits when it rains, when i stop or the car is leanign forward down my driveway,(nose lower than rear) the water goes from this slot in the cab where that piece overlaps the next a trim piece.

my ugly valve covers

pretty nasty there

pay attention to the red marks thats where oil leaks in the front and the drip on my oil filter

heres the bellhousing shots, you can see where it drips, if not it hangs out on that silver metal piece furthest down

if it is a rear main seal your looking at $400 or higher, they quoted $700 for the 95gt I used to have, all for a stupid 5 buck seal.

isnt there a kind of engine safe putty people use to put on to stop leaking? i really wanted to take my engine out and have someone take it apart and look at it to see the shape its in, fix whatevers broken, and make it ready to roll for a good while. just replace all the gaskets. how much for that?

if you replace the doors hinge pins, that will fix the sagging door and may pull the door up enough that the window frame will firmly push against the weatherseal.

for them to pull the engine and replace all that, alot, heck Id say maybe $1300, cuz you figure the parts and the 75-80 bukz and hour labor charge and it adds pretty fast.

Mine diddnt and i know it wasnt replaced because it had the stock clutch in it and you could tell the tranny was never out. Car only had 73k when i bought it though maybe thats why.

yeah both of them are, tahts why i called them ugly. this pisses me off. is it worth it to just take it out and rebuild it with the stock stuff. maybe get a better crank, rods and pistons and bore it 306? would that be worth it? it ticks and makes allot of odd noises, so this would help allot.

this car only has 89,000 miles, it just sat in a garage for 10 years and only had 2,000 miles put on it in ten years. thats bad for gaskets.

Start off with getting the small stuff done so you can enjoy the car, get some new weatherstripping, get some new hinge pins for the door. I think jrickter(sp?) has a post on how to replace the door lock actuators cheeply. Find yourself some seats from a later mustang or maybe go for the summit seats, they can be had for around $400 for both and look good.

How much oil are you actually losing? If its not too bad the seals can wait a little while, just keep checking on it.

If your really at your wits end i would either sell it or get a second car as a DD.
