pitman arm removal

im trying to pull out my steering box but i dont know how to get the pitman arm off of either the power steering controll valve or the gearbox itself.

any help guys?

get a puller for it, they have pitman arm pullers at auto parts shops, BUT they are sorry, so borrow a nice industrial one, if I hadnt of borrowed my dads works puller I couldnt have got mine off.

You could also heat the bottom of the arms with a propane torch, but keep the flame away from sensitive parts and the center shaft, and whak it on the side with a big hammer while at the same time holding another big hammer on the other side. It should drop off after a few solid hits. If it does not than buy a pitman are puller.

just buy the puller, i tried that first and we ended up bending the ball joint seperator and pulling the ball joint straight outta the drag link haha.

Although they are not the "industrial ones", you can rent a puller at autozone for free

i went to autozone to rent a puller. they wanted 20 dollar deposit and since you guys say its not industrial theres a risk of it breaking so i figur efor 13 bucks ill buy my own. tools are a lifetime investment you know your bound to use it again.
