I've done some searching and reading of the forums and have a few more questions. I have a 98 Cobra Vert. I already ditched the Mach 460 head unit for a Pioneer DEH-P80. It's pretty solid for what I paid ($160), has 3 pairs of 5V pre-outs. I already hooked up XM and an Ipod adapter. I also have two subs in the trunk. I'm not really sure of the size, they're either 8" or 10" JL's. They are running off an MTX 2ch amp mounted to the box(maybe about 400W). I have 4 AWG wiring powering it. I plan on upgrading my mid/highs soon and ditching the stock amps. I plan on going with Infinity Kappa 5 1/4 components in the doors and Kappa 5x7 2-ways in the back being pushed by a Soundstream amp. I think I'm going to get the one that puts out 720 RMS. I'm wondering if I will need a cap and how well the stock alternator is going to handle all of this. I'm assuming I should run new wires, since the stock amps handle the crossover. I also already have a distribution block I can use. Once I add everything I was going to put both of the amps where the stock stuff is, under the convertible top basket. Is this a good place?
