your best bet is to get a whole engine out of an 88, and i mean everything, harness, computer, all the smog equipment and do it that way.
He doesn't need the entire engine. He just needs the efi intake. We put an 85 engine in my friends '88 and retained the entire '85 bottom end, heads, cam and just put the efi manifold on top.
Of course, he will need all the wiring and all that.

I know. Im just saying if he's pulling all that crap out of a donor car, it would be cheaper and easier to go on a 50% off day and just grab the whole thing. If you start pulling parts then they will charge you individually(grabbed an entire engine for $100), that way he gets the better heads of the areo cars and make the swap a whole lot simpler

Well whats everything im gonna need. I have a lx at the shop just collecting dust. I need Engine harness and the dash harness? What about everything for the fuel pump etc? it has central fuel injection now so im not sure if i'll just need the engine harness and thats it. thats the point im confused at

You'll need all of that, all the smog equipment, trust me you'll want to be able to smog the car, sharking it is not fun. You'll need the ECU, probably the 02 sensors. If you go on a 50% off day just pull the engine and leave all that **** attached, all the way to the ECU and you'll get it MUCH cheaper, unless you already have a whole care then just start pulling **** out.
Why not just ditch it for a 4v carb setup? I'm all for fuel injection, but in this case it would be cheaper to go true carb and not efi.

I was debating on carb, but after dealing with a carb car for a couple of days i just hate it. Sucks to start throttle response is **** compared to efi. Just runs like crap most the time. Nothing beats a nice calm steady ride that goes when u want it to. Plus i wouldnt mind gaining some knowledge in the process.

Unsure what fuel pump the CFI setup has, it might be good enough. Does the cfi have a return fuel line setup like efi? If not that will need to be added. You'll need the harnesses, and entire efi top end. If ypu start with stock 5.0ho parts it will be cheaper since intakes and injectors and stock mafs and etc are cheap. Get it running and then upgrade.
