Has anyone had any luck polishing their headlights or taillights??? Mine are looking not so perfect and was looking for any methods or products that anyone found to work.

I just put some diamond clear corners on mine, and they made the headlights look a little yellow. I tried the sandpaper thing, waste of time. get some rubbing compound from an auto parts store. Depending on how bad they are, that should work. I used 3m body repair rubbing compound, fine cut. It says that it is safe for use on clear coat finishes. And should cost around 5 bucks, but it will last a long time. Just try it on a small part first, and if it works, it might take a couple of applications. Mine weren't too bad. you can get some rougher rubbing compound, but I would try the 3m stuff first, you don't want to leave scratches, and that stuff I just told you about removes 1500 grit sandpaper marks. A buffing wheel and drill might speed things up. I got mine at sears(buffing wheel kit) 10 bucks. good luck pm me if you have any questions. chris

I've used Mother's aluminum and mag polish on my Altima headlights and it worked really well getting rid of the yellowing...

Hey sawman... How'd your tail lights get messed up to the point where you feel they need to be rubbed out? The car is not that old?

Most auto parts stores carry plastic polish made by Blue Magic? I think thats what its called - its in a blue and white bottle. It works really good, i've used in on all the lights on my cars, as well as the clear plastic cover over the instrument panel.

I may be anal, but there is some spider webbing on the headlights (from washing maybe?) and a couple of scratches on the drivers tail light. When the head lights and tail lights are truly smooth and polished I think it adds to the car, as I think truly clean glass does. Again, I'm anal.

do you mean stress fractures, my t-bird had them. little cracks all over the headlights, not through, just visible?

To get the yellow off plastic headlights I like to take some extra fine steelwool like 000 grade, take the steel wool to the headlights until they are scuffed up pretty good, then spray 3-4 coats of clear coat.

How many miles on your snake currently, and is it garaged? reason I ask is that I don't have any spiderwebbing in my headlights or tail lights?

13000, and garaged. Don't forget I got it used, the marks were there when I bought it. Could just be result of a yahoo who was not careful with his detailing.
