Please give any advice

ok this week i'm getting 4:10s put in my 02 GT automatic. if anyone has anything to say about it then speak now. i already have prostars and nitto drag radials waiting for them. i have been thinking of ordering the hypertech programmer also. i wanted the diablo but my car is almost stock so i think the hypertech would be just fine.

There's not much advice to give. You're headed in the right direction for what you have.

Screw the Hypertech and get an SCT microtuner . If you're gonna spend the $$, might as well get the better one IMHO.

Also, make sure that a pro does the install, don't deal with gear whine when you dont have to

Go with a chip over the programmer, because the chip can be reburned over and over as your mods change, or get added. My guy does SuperChips and gets $250 for the initial chip/burn, $75 a re-burn. The powerprogrammer, for what you get out of it, is not worth the $350 IMO. My friend did it in his 98 and got 3 lbs torque/ -2 hp....nice eh.....oh but it shifted hard. All the adjustments the PP can do can be done and done cheaper with a chip....as long as you have a tuner near you. I think the SuperChips website has a local dealer listings. As for the 4.10's, go for it that will wake that car right up!

thanks for all the advice guys. i work at a ford dealership hear in houston and the gear install technician is installing them. i've heard nothing but good about him. i have a couple questions:

1. what is a sct tuner? is that the superchips one?
2. what do yall think i will run after this install? i have flows, cold air, nittos, and soon 4:10s.
3. when people get a dynotune, is that because they are running rich and other stuff like that? all i would need if i got a chip is to get it burned right? also do i have to have it burned for every single performance mod i do?

sorry for all the questions guys. i'm still learning.

Yeah, the SCT is by Superchips, but a different group within the company. Ck out www.modulardepot.com for more details about the SCT tuner...it's different than the old Superchips handheld programmer. These guys are making some serious power!!!

personally i have also been thinking about the same set up, although i have a warrenty setup so i would go to the programmer only because when i take the car in for work "when" it needs it i can "flash" my chip back to stock and then when i get it back home throw on the tune i want. although i want to have the 4.10 gears bad! i havent found a place thats interested in doing my gears :-( weird... but get the gears for sure, and the programmer in my opinion will be a better investment because you can tune your buddies mustangs to for a small $$$ "fee" thats what im gonna do ::good luck::

Not always, but it's a good idea if you want to run optimally. Besides, then you can see what each mod brings you. Then when the next young gun asks a question, you'll have an opinion based on your own experience.

That would be a good idea, except you cant do that, at least with the superchip programmer. When you plug it into your car is saves your stock settings. Then you tune it as you want and it saves that also. Now lets say you go tune another car, well your cars stock program that WAS saved on the programmer is now gone and your stuck with whatever tune you put in your car. The only way you could do it is by putting your car back to stock then tuning someone elses car, but then when you want to go tune your car youd have to put their car back to stock or else they will be stuck with that tune.

And for Too Slow, I recomend getting the diablo programmer. It has a lot more options then the superchip one for about the same price. You could either get the programmer and tune your car whenever you want for free, or get the chip and tune it for gears now and when your done with all your mods get a retune for $75-$100. I think what I might do is get a new chip after I finish moding my car, then sell the programmer if I can. I think this is the way to go with autos because tuning the tranny makes a huge difference. Remember a chip should be your very last mod.

i was thinking of getting the diablo one. but can it set my car back to stock settings when i want it to????? i can either buy that one or buy a diablo chip from my friend out of his 03 gt for like $90. i like the diablo cause you can use it for codes and **** like that also.where is the cheapest place to get the diablo programmer?
