Well I have a '87 LX with 5.0 and have decided that I am going to piece together my motor as family matters wiped out my savings so I am unable to buy it all in one lump sum.

I am after a fun daily driver that makes between 350-450whp and that will last me for a while. After I purchase a house I will buy a car that's completely dedicated to racing and go real big, so I just want to make a real fun street car.

My history is mainly import race cars where we built 10 and 11 second all motor cars so I am not the most up to date on domestic motors but I am learning very quickly.

What I am looking for right now is a good recommendation on a block that I can get as I don't want to spend quite a bit on a Sportsman or Dart block, but something I can get and clean up and possibly bore out. Something that I can build a good bottom end and then put a good set of heads, cam and intake manifold on and that will run with the current engine management that I have in the car now.

Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Yes I would really like to stay N/A, and I have the TB and MAF so I am off to a good start.. :D So if I was to go with the 347 what block would I need to look for to get that displacement?

How about this motor? http://forums.stangnet.com/showthread.php?t=636196

"A beat down (but never rebuilt) 351W of unknown vintage. I am lazy and do not feel like digging into it to find the castings etc. Complete from the flywheel to the heads. No oil pan or intake."
