Please help me fix my heater or I'll freeze!!!!!!

Ok so here's the deal I've already replaced the heater core in my car yet the heater still only blows cold. The heater hoses going to the heater core under the hood don't seem to be getting hot so I was wondering what else it may be. If It's something simple I'd really like to get it working before I freeze this winter. Thanks in advance.

Do you have a thermastat? what temp? I wouldnt be surprised if it was the blend door tho....look under ur glove box, i think theres a little arm u can move with ur fingers to open or close the flap....which is connected to the hot/cold dial on ur dash knobs

YOUR T-STAT COULD BE STUCK OPEN, NOT LETTING THE COOLANT GET HOT ENOUGH.

even if the plumbing to the heater core wasn't getting hot you'd still get hot air coming from the engine blowing in. i disconnected my heater core cause it leaked badly and i still get heat. maybe not as dry and as hot, but hot enough for defrost and to keep me from freezing. it'd suspect maybe it is something you forgot to do connect like one of the red, blue, yellow vac lines behind the dash or like the other guy said maybe the flap is stuck or something.

Thanks you guys I'll have to see if those happen to be the problem. As for what thermostat i have, I have a 180 degree one. So more than likely it's not the heater core again since the hoses aren't even getting hot right?

You better dress warm. I drove a mustang around for 2 straight years with no heater core even in it. Sounds like it might be a stuck thermostat. There is a trick you can do. Pull the hose off the thermostate housing and spray some wd40 in there and it might unstick it, if is is stuck. also check the heater control. Their is small metal rod that hooks to the back of it make sure it is opening and closing when you turn it from Hot to cold.

The thermostat is easy enough to change that I would just do it. Especially if you have done it before, the bolts should come out easily.

I would put anti sieze on the bolts when I reinstall them.

I also put allen head capscrews in the thermostat housing instead of hex head bolts. This way you can get a long, ball end allen wrench on them and take them out much easier than the bolt heads.

Try the thermostat next. Also make sure you get all the air out of the system, it may take a couple of tries.

Definitely make sure the blend door (temp control door) is working properly, as well as the other doors.

the allen head screws are a good idea, at least for the bottom one since that one is a pain since u can only turn in a flat or two at a time. Even with the normal bolts i can change mine in 20 minutes, if the threads are nice and clean u can just thread it in by hand all the way then tighten it up. Whats ur engine temp saying? I say change ur thermostat, I have a 195 in mine so it warms up quick and has nice heat.

thanks again you guys! I might just have to replace the thermostat and check that door. Oh and completely off topic how in the world do you replace the grommet and screen for the pcv valve on our cars? I cut the hell out of my hand just replacing the valve. There was no way the grommet and screen were coming out haha.

once u get the valve out, put ur finernail behind the back of the grommet and should come out, if not get in there with some pliers.....and for the screen a long needle nose pliers works good to grab onto one of the 3 little metal tabs its got, or u got just push it down in there and squeeze and yank it out and obviously u need a new one after that....and yeah if u dont watch out ull scrape up ur hands with all the wire looms and lines down there

I had a 180 in my truck and I hardly had any heat in the cold weather.....I put a 192 in and it will cook me out now...plus the truck is better on fuel

I would check also that the heater hose does not have a blockage.
