HI I just finished a restoration on my 65 Mustang an I have one item I can not figure out. On the 289 right exhaust manifold at the top rear of the manifold there is a small nipple about 1/8 inch I/D sticking upward. It feels as if it has vacuum . Does anyone have an idea as to what the purpose of it is. See pic..
I appreciate any information anyone can give

A small metal tube plugs in to that then goes upward to the heat riser port on the mechanical choke mechanism on the carburetor. Most part store have a little kit that comes with the tube, a piece of insulation to slip over the tube and a compression ring and nut that threads on to the choke housing

Yeah its to heat up your choke. If you still have your original carb you'll see it on the choke housing. You should have 2 tubes. the other I think goes to the top rear of the carb? I've make new ones with brake lines and compression fittings. It doesn't really have any noticeable affects on the way the car runs though and most people don't bother to hook it back up.
