I have a few important questions regarding the love of my life...my 88' lx 5sp.

First, it has a BRAND NEW 302 w/ GT40P's, Probe pistons, Crane 1.6 rockers, a B303 cam, 24lb. injectors, and Mass air.

1) What should I set my timing AND fuel pressure to??!!

2) I have a problem where my starter STAYS ON after I pull the key out of the ignition. I thought I fixed the problem when I bought a brand new solenoid AND starter but the starter STILL gets stuck every now and again. What's the problem, is it my IGNITION SWITCH??!!!!!

Thank you in advance for any advice!

There is a small red wire with a light blue stripe on the starter solenoid. It connects to the starter solenoid with a push on terminal. That is the start signal from the ignition switch. Next time the starter hangs, pull it off the post it is pushed on. If the starter stops running, the ignition switch is at fault. If it continues to run, then you have other problems.

timing = 14* w/ premium , not over 90 out or very humid
fp = 35 at idle is great you might be able to lean it out a bit for more power but some times not worth the risk

i replaced a hung selonoid once and less than a week later it broke again. i took the original one back so i had a spare (and i still have that spare) the borg-warner repl. is the same as oem

Sometimes it's better to leave the FP set at stock (39psi) and have a custom tune done to play with the fuel and timing curves.

Same deal with the timing.

A good dyno run burning a custom chip will do a lot more than just messing with the variables yourself

Thanks guys for all your help. I'll try the ignition switch and set my fuel at 38 for now. My timing will stay at 12 and I'll just go up from there until I here pinging.

TTT...I pulled the red wire on the top of the solenoid off when it stuck and it still stayed engaged. So I guess it can't be the ignition switch...any other ideas???

The solenoid might be latching. And if you upgraded to a mini-starter it's possible to wire the control and feed side wiring so it hangs.

Since the starter runs-on after you remove the key, how have you reset the starter solenoid? If this happened once and hasn't been remedied, it could be from trying to start the car with a semi dead battery, which can tack the common/N.O. terminals in the relay closed.

Good luck.
