Please help....

Ok well i just got done putting on the Typhoon intake manifold and got it all bolted up and put into place, and started it the other day and it ran like **** and will not keep running without playing with the gas.. after a few starts, its starts alot better and will run alone now.. the fuel pump sounds louder then ever from inside and outside the car.. it sounds like it runs "OK" but the revs will sit at weird rpms... like it will hang at 2g then just stay there... then if you drive it abit, the rpms comes down and idle at about 1000 and just doesnt sound correct..

Not like a miss but kinda like a miss.. so iam thinking of replaceing the fuel pump and the filter and see if that helps but what do you guys think??

Also when it ran and driving, it seemed to drive good, and seemed like it was alot faster then i remember...:nice:

Any help.. thanks!:flag:

No i didnt move that..
BUT i did make a temp plate that goes inside your idle air control box thing, that makes the car rev down ALOT faster.. i dont know much about it.. my friend actually made it for me, but i took it out and it seemed to run better but thats what i was kinda thinking about my rpms hangin out so high..

plus i have an Xcal2 and i just returned the tune back to stock to see if that would help any.. i will play with it more today, but mainly i was trying to see if my problems might be related to an air leak or any problem with the manifold or the swap its self..

The reason the pump was so loud was prabably because it was trying to fill the lines back up and get the pressure back up. as for the revving thing............. IAC:shrug: Mine does the rev thing but Ive heard time and time again that its just "the nature of the beast".

YES! When you drastically change the airway in an MAF system it needs calibrating....you could be running lean.......or pig rich.........I have a friend with the typhoon and his car runs good after a custom tune.....I also run the HPS Hardball R intake and it also needed a tune.....

Ummm NO. When you change the plumbing in your house you don't need to recalibrate the water meter. Same principle. When you buy a kenne bell kit it drastically changes the intake, but if you don't order the MAF, they do not adjust the MAF curve because the stock MAF will accomodate the extra air. Point being if the MAF position was not altered or the flow in front of the MAF was not altered there is no reason to re-calibrate the MAF. My money is on either a vacuum or the plate they used to restrict the IAC is causing the problem.

OK, well i started it and the car will NOT start unless you give it some gas.. then to keep it running u have to play with the gas pedal a little to get it running, then give it a second and it KINDA runs by itself... It doesnt like to idle below 1000 and kinda runs not as nice as it did (DUh) Also i noticed that there was a little Blue/white smoke out the pipes but not really nothing too big at all..

But i filled the car with water just in case i had a leak i didnt wanna spill antifrezze everywhere, then i checked and re-checked for leaks and i didnt find a thing... So that part seems ok.. Also the sound of my car is different. It sounds (at idle) like i have cams when its idleing.. i guess it could be a miss or something.. let me know what you guys think.. ANYTHING helps.. :hail2:

Start by taking the restrictor plate off of the IAC. The IAC's job is to control the idle. by putting that plate on there you are limiting how well it can do its job. If the slow dropping rpms bother you have it changed in the tune.

It still doesnt like to start up.. i took the plate off and it seems to run worse, because the rpms dont drop at all.. ok well they do when they want too i guess im trying to say.. If i rev it up, then it takes 2 years for them to come down.. and im talking like the hang at 3grand for more than 10-15 seconds. WHich is too much, i put the plate on and its not so bad and idles at 1grand and sounds funny..

As i said, like it has cams, (sounds great, but it doesnt sound clean) sounds almost like its missin, but i drove it around the block and it seemed to do just fine..

Thats what it is.. a air leak.. i found it yesterday by spraying some crab cleaner on the intake manifold and it reved up.. plus while its running it has a LOUD ass hiss from the motor.. :bang:
But it seems to run pretty good.. besides the high idle it seems great.. but i think i might have found the problem.. the intake might need to come back off but i hope it wont.. I'll try re tq-ing them back down and see if that helps..
Thanks again for the help and i will repost with an answer.. thanks again guys!!!!!:nice: :nice:
