I'm about to change the spark plugs on my 99GT what spark plug should I use. The car is bone stock??? Platinum or Copper and what brand??? It comes with platinum from the factory why should I change to copper?? Thanks

What about Bosch platinum? I understand they work well, especially if you stay with the single prong ones. My T-Bird SC ran those and personally I liked them. :)
I used them once before in the stang and they 're crap IMHO. Missed like a SOB. Pulled them, put in some Champion $1.85 copper plugs and it was smooth sailing. This was before the blower. Now I use Desno IT20's.

get Autolite 764s, they are the same as motorcraft. you dont need platnium. the bosch plugs are great for motors designed to use bosch plugs, and the mustang 4.6 was not designed for bosch plugs. the multiprong ones are useless. plus they sell the autolite 764s at walmart for $1 a piece.

I already answered this at Fordpower but I'll answer it here for you to. I'm using Motorcraft awsf-c12's gapped at .054 with no problem at all. They are copper and two steps colder than stock.
Why the 2 steps colder plug, Dark Knight? I don't know plugs that well, but from what I've read, colder plugs are best for a motor with a power adder. Why did you decide to use the colder plugs?
-thanks-

A colder plug is less resistant to electrical charge, hence, they fire better. Yeah, you get better results with boost when using a colder plug, but hey, I figured why not try them. Right now, my SCT tune has my ignition timing setup for 93 octane, I'm running two steps colder plugs, and I have all my mods, yet I'm able to get by with just 87 octane. No pinging, no rattling, no funny idle. Everything rides like a dream.:D

Wow, that would be great to be able to use 87 with the SCT tune setup for 93 especially with today's gas prices (I'm in the same boat with my SCT Tune, but have never tried anything less than 92). No knocks or pings here either at this point (with the OEM MAF back in place!), and I'm due for a plug change, so maybe I'll go with the colder plugs...at least one step colder.
Thanks for the info! :nice: :hail2:

Autolites with a .45 gap. 2 bucks each and all you need.. Just be sure you change them every 30k. Paying more for spark plugs is unneccesary and yields no performance gain.

NGK TR 55's, or are they 45's ? One or the other. $1.12 each, Worked great for me n/a, and was recommended by my tuner. I switched to NGK TR 6's when my blower went in.
FYI - do not overtighten your plugs when reinstaling the new ones. Our heads have soft, shallow threads for the spark plugs, they are notorious for stripping the threads. Only turn 1/8 of a turn w/ a ratchet past finger tight, and use spark plug antiseize.
I can tell you which plugs for sure when I get home.
