I've been searching around the forums all night now, and I really can't find a concrete answer as to WHAT is included in Vortech "tuner kits." Someone please break it down for me because this is really escaping me....

Here is the parts list for a complete Vortech Kit 01-02 V2-SQ Supercharger:

Which parts are missing in the tuner kits?

I need to know right down to the brackets because I hear that you can get raped by Vortech if you need to buy them separately, and I don't want to get stalled in the middle of an install. I need to know which parts at the absolute minimum I need to run a simple, safe, daily-driven supercharger, not an all out boost machine. I hear that you need things ranging from a chip, injectors, fuel pump, MAF, boost pipe, dynometer, Tim, Modularfordpowerhouse, T&J, a mongoose, a cobra, a rabbit, and a fuzzy, small, green leprechaun.

Hopefully someone who has already gone this route can chime in....

The tuner kit includes everything you need to actually bolt the blower on. It has all brackets, hoses, belt, air filter, discharge tube, intake tube, etc..etc..

What it does not include(and you need for a safe tune) is.... injectors(I am running 30 lbs but I reccomend 42s,) Fuel pump (either steeda duals, 03 cobra tank and pumps, or maybe try the aviator pump that everyone is talking about,) larger mass air flow meter like the lightening unit (although some get by with the stocker,) and most importantly a good tune.

You should not need a powerpipe. My tuner kit came with a intake pipe but check with who you are buying it from. Their was a company that was selling tuner kits cheaper than other places but it did not come with the intake pipe.

I first looked into building my own kit. But I found it was cheaper to just buy everything in the form of the mongoose kit from T and J performance.

How is it cheaper??

Tuner Kit $2400
30# injectors $210
Walbro 255lph fuel pump $99
Diablo Chip $99 online
Diablo will custom tune the chip for you for a flat $120; you just have to take it to any performance shop for a reburn.

That comes to like $2938 not including shipping. Would it be safe to run the stock MAF as long as I get it custom tuned by Diablo?? It seems that is the general consensus among everyone (just tune it to be safe). I plan to use this car as a daily driver so I dont need insane amounts of power right now (under 400rwhp). What is the procedure to getting a chip burned by diablo? Has anyone done it? Do you send them your dyno sheet or something?

The main problem I see is the Walbro pump.
The Walbro pump was not made to work with the returnless system. If you really want to save a few bucks you should look into the aviator pump. I don't think it will run you a whole lot more then the Walbro.
Also If I were you, I would take your car to a good tuner and have a custom tune made for it on the dyno. I am just guessing that will run ~$600. If you go that route check with your tuner first about the stock MAF. They might be able to work with it and they might not.

Never claimed to be the cheapest..But,i've never lost an engine..

That $99 walbro pump will eventually cost an engine...

Could someone post a link for this aviator pump? I am looking into the Vortech or NOVI 1000 kit and want to work out all these details before I buy anything.

Would the setup work reliably with the aviator pump, 30# injectors, stock MAF, and a JMS chip?

Also, I think there was some talk in the boards (may or may not be true) that tim was starting to use walbro pumps in the mongoose kit. Is this true or way off?

Hell no.! I refuse to tune any 4.6 with a return style system and a walbro.I tried it on one car and it failed.Luckly we caught it before it got the engine.

Thanks for setting me straight Tim.......Its probably no doubt that everyone says you are THE person to talk to about stang tuning.

Would it be safe to get the tuner kit, 30 lb injectors, use stock MAF, focus fuel pump, and a chip? I live in chicago, how could I get you to tune it for me?

Has anyone else run this set up?
