hey i was wondering if i could take my stock plenum and just get it bored out to 75mm at a machine shop. if anyone has done this or knows if it will work good that would be helpfull thanks.
Well, maybe...but the bore changes through the turn, down into the manifold. You can't simply run a 75mm 'drill' or what have you through it and have the equivalant of these aftermarket plenums, most of which, if not all, have a built in spacer as well. That looks good...Moving back to California, I've been looking for "stock looking" performance plenums...Nothing more "stock looking" than a ported stock plenum...That piece with a spacer and maybe a FRPP 70mm TB and I might be set...As long as I don't get a mustang guy for my inspection, I think I can slip it by...
The FRPP throttle body is a nice piece. I have a 70mm FRPP throttle body on my stang, and I've had no problems with it. It ocmes with a new TP sensor, which means you don't have to worry about transfering your stock one to it. It also looks identical from the outside to the factory throttle body. Even has the "Ford" emblem on it. The only indication you can see that gives away its aftermarket is that small "SVO" sticker that comes on the TP sensor. Of course, I just peeled mine off. The intake spacer is easily over-looked by most that don't know the 4.6ltr motor very well.
I will be moving up to a 75mm TB soon but have a 70mm FRPP that i have polishes and radiused the inlet and the wiked stepdown in front of the butterfly, once my new TB comes in i'll be selling it. I was planning on selling it on e-bay but if somone else is interested let me know.
