I'm not good at reading plugs or diagnosing, so I hoped the community could take a look.
A little background:
In the meantime, I was replacing plugs and pulled plug #8 and saw it was shiny with a bit of fuel around the collar by the threads. In the photo, you can still see some residue on the plug. I read a gunked PCV valve could cause a wet/oily plug 8 so I've ordered a new one.

A little background:
- in the last few months car has been having to crank a lot before she fires up.
- Also I've been killing catalytic converters, 3 pairs dead in 2 years. The first two were both the CA magnaflow aftermarket. 3rd set is a used H-pipe, that didn't rattle when installed then after a month broke apart inside like the magnaflows. Throughout my mechanic says there are no codes and every things seems fine. He had the car run the compression and injector test.
- Though car has no stored codes, every once in a while the 'check engine light' randomly comes on. Once while I was leaving the shop, it turned on for about a minute then turned off. I immediately turned around and had my mechanic plug it in to the computer; nothing.

Questions:
- Could a gunked PCV valve also be part of my issue with my cats? I've owned the car for 22 years and have never had it replaced or cleaned. Attached is a photo, of what I think is the PCV valve, is it supposed to be that oily/dirty?
- Also, in trouble shooting vacuum lines I found a burnt cable (hose?) near the brake booster. Anyone know what this cable/hose is to?
- How do the rest of my plugs look?
