i went to the carmax shop since me car is under warrant to have it checked out it was making a loud tapping noise that would get louder and faster when even i gave the car gas the guy told me that its my clutch bearing and that was not covered under my warrant becae its normal wear and they would fix it for 580.00 :(

so my question is would i be better off replacing the whole clutch or should i just get the bearing thing fixed

atm i hate to even drive the car because the noise is so loud was going to wait until the new year but i cant take it anymore and it is getting even worst before i would only hear the noise when i was giving it some gas now i hear it when i am just sitting there

ps the clutch is not slipping and the car starts and drives find its just makeing a lot of noise

thxs :flag:

How many miles are on the car? if its gettin up there (I dont know...say 50k+?) I'd just get a new clutch. You're going to need a new clutch eventually and if you've already put that many miles on this one you might as well get a new one.

i have 51k on the car and the oil is fine

so far as the nosie let me see if i can explain it a little better

when i first heard the noises i was thinking omg its a valve i was geting on the onramp giving she some gas when the car started to buck as if i was patting the gas then the ticking noise started it was kind of low at first but after a few days it started to get loud and like i said u can hear it best when u are accelerating or just holding the pedal down constantly

carmax people said it is a clutch bearing

the noise is a loud tapping sound like a valve and its loud but taps slower at low rpms and loud and fast tapping a high rpms but it is at its loudest when u hold the pedal at a fixed rpm

i hope that helps

ps do must new clutches come with a new clutch bearing or is that something i would have to get also

ok there is no such thing as a "clutch bearing" they are blowing smoke up your ass. there are generally 2 bearings in a clutch kit, a pilot bearing and a throwout bearing. take it to a shop that actually knows what they are talking about, maybe a local transmission shop and see what they say.

Take it to another shop. This doesn't sound to me like what a typical throwout bearing noise would be.

Does it go away depending on if you push the clutch pedal in or not?
