Well, I'm just enjoying it, Joe. I'm in California, have 5 cars in total, and have to move to DC in December. It's not really flipping to make money, though if I can make money that's great. It was more just about enjoying it, because I bought it for $2,500, and figured that I'm on the coast, it's a heads/cam/intake vert that needs a lil love. This'll be fun! It also just so happens that my best friend's kid fell in love with foxes after he saw the '93, and now he wants one as a first car. I'm hoping I can talk my friend into buying it for me at or near the $$$ I have in. It would be a great first fox. He's kinda a cheap skate and wants to buy a super cheap fox. Thinks people are crazy asking $5k for a decent stocker, lol. I think that's a great way to end up with a POS the kid hates.

I hear you on the cost of stuff in expensive areas. The going rate for labor around here is $125/hr.

I know what you mean, I do it with pinball machines all the time.
Buy a few broken at a really good price.
Fix them up, enjoy them for a while, then sell off the ones I never really wanted, hoping to have gotten the one I do want either free or really cheap when it's all said and done.
I only really worry about body work on cars, because I just don't have the desire or patience to learn any of it. For the rest, my car lift (with slide jack), makes most of other tasks fairly easy. If I get caught up, I have guys that I can call for the answers or even to come over.

One day... Would love to have a lift like that! Can't stay anywhere for more than a couple years in the Army. So, having a lift doesn't make a lot of sense. I have to get by with 2 jacks and a lot of elbow grease.
