pony interior door lights

I can't find a reference to this in any of the books I have. Which way does the lens go? Is it red to the rear and white to the front or red to the front and white to the rear? I'm pretty sure it's red to the rear...

I'm pretty sure its red to the rear as well, so that the red light is outboard and visible to cars from behind when the door is open and the white light still illuminates the ground closest to the car.
