I'm still on the fence on going to the ride and drive on Thus. 7-15. What exactally do you do there? How much time to you get to spend on the track? Is it worth the $135 they are charging for a novice driver with a stock suspension? So many questions.......

oh its worth it! rode with micha last yeat and it was a blast (in the novis group) There even was a cougar, and a cali special out there haveing some fun. in the expert group there was a fester eating up the track holding its own. But thats a bit of power to try tossing around corners.

Yea, I've got to be pretty careful accelerating out of corners or the back end will snap around. How many laps do you get?

its broken up into heats of 15-20min (cant remember which). And with a group allways going you have 30 or so min cooldown between runs. Its as many as time allows. Its Quite a lot of driveing. I remember some guy 2 years augo with a mystic cobra said he loged 90+ miles just at the track. A much better deal then 30 bucks for 2 runs at the drag strip.

Is it worth going and just watching? Can you see most of the road course?

Yes its' worth going.

Expect four opportunities on the track and a trip into Covington for fuel.

I can vouch for the ninety miles of track time (and the trips for more fuel)

You can see the whole track if you are willing to cross over and stay over.
It's fairly easy to snag a ride with someone if you have a helmet.

$135 bucks seems like a lot of dough for admission but you get to break the speed limit ALL day. Much cheaper than a triple digit speeding ticket. Plus if your cars breaks, all your friends will be there to see it and give you ***** about it. Priceless.

You can cross over at the quarter mile trap on the staightaway while cars are off track. You can head down and see turn 2 exit down the hill into 3A and B or you can be down behind the Tower and watch turns 4, 5A, 5B and turn six.

I'm on the fence too! $135 is getting to be more and more worth it..i called dave bennitt at 425-869-2868 and he says if your a novice, or never done this event you need to attend a meeting at the Bellevue Inn at 7pm on Wed 7/14..any other advise for someone who's never done this event from other previous participents would greatly help my decision to go...thanks Jay

I've done it and I'm thinking about going to this one. I did it in 2002 and it was my first open track event. I've been in love ever since.

You do get a lot of driving time in, and it's fun to be out there with cars similar to your own. All in all it's a decent event, the only way I could see ANYBODY not having an absolute blast doing it is if they wreck their car.

However, if you are not driving over your head, and keep a distance from others, you shouldn't have a problem.

You get so much track time you could skip session and still be tired at the end of the day. If you get stuck in heavy traffic during the session just pull into the hot pits and wait for 30 seconds or so, that way you can work on driving the track instead of following a dumb ass

Stock suspended cars are great for learning, take full advantage of the available instructors, start slow-add speed later. Brakes and tires are expendable, use em up!

At my first track day, I was lucky enough to attend the ProFormance class as a novice. Even though I had considered myself to be a decent driver, I was amazed at how much I really didn't know about performance driving. It was well worth the $$.

Keep your oil topped off, check/adjust your tire pressure and check the lug nut torque after each session. Be sure you have at least 50% life left on your brake pads or you'll shooting sparks by the end of the day.

I wish my block weren't cracked.............

Or for the gas thing, bring a 5 gal so you dont have to either splurge on the expencive stuff there or the trip out to get gas
