When a/c compressor is on, idle is fine and smooth. When compressor stop turning, engine surging and humping at idle. Not much but just enough to fail pollution test for example.
My truck acted like that, and the problem was solved with new plugs and wires. Stupid me over reacted and took it to a mechanic for eight hundred dollars. This was recent.
