I had my stock stereo and CD player removed from my 2000 Gt Mustang and i am getting a pop noise when you turn it on. They say it is normal. Is there anything that can be done to fix it, or at least quite it down?

Thanks

I was thinking about putting an aftermarket stereo in my 2000 but decided against it. Good thing because it was totaled a month later. Anyway, I read that the reason why it pops is because the amps are being overloaded when turned on. I talked with some guys at Circuit City about it and they said there would have to be a resistor installed between the unit and amps.

Do you know if they do it or what resistor? Or maybe where it would go? Any info would be great.

Thanks

Sorry, I don't have the printout anymore. Give Circuit City or Best Buy a call and see if they have any more info to give you. I know I also read it in the Audio forum either here or on www.corral.net

I had the same problem for the longest time in my stang. I went to radio shack and bought a pack of resistors. 4.7k ohm (1/4 or 1/2 watt, forgot which I used, I bought both packs $ 1 each.) I put one in the remote wire and it's been perfect for the last ~ 5 months. good luck
