Ported throttle body

What kind of gains can be seen by porting the stock throttle body? Any problems? My friend has a "ported throttle body" for sale and I've never heard of anyone doing it.

Will it get me any gains with the STOCK PLENUM or would I *need* an aftermarket plenum for gains.

Oops, I did a search and realized that I actually posted this exact thing before and I found a good write up by dark knight. Oh well, if anyone else has a comment post it
