Hey my friends dad is selling a 67-69 cougar with a 390(auto) with a drag pak, posi etc... so if i were to buy a 66-70 fastback shell and throw in the plant, rear and a manual trans (4/5 spd) what kinda timeslip do you think i could come up with?
hm, stock, prolly low 14's. #1, a 390 isnt going to fit in a 66 fastback (i know you can mod it but lets be honest) a 390 is CRAMMED into a 67-68 fastback. So if ur stuck on 390 ud better go with a 69-70 fastback. I personally think thats a waste of time buying all those cars and swapping. Get the fastback u want and build a motor for it. BTW, u can put a 428 crank in a 390 and get 410 cubic inches :-D
the cougar is in good shape but it's just too bloated....i'd rather have a quick quick mustang...(perhaps a bullit clone) than a sluggish comfy cougar. Just an idea anyway, up here in Canada it's hard to find decent bodies (roads get lotsa salt here) so i'll probably have to look for a 1990 or older 5.0 LX.
Yeah, that Cougar is worth some bux and quite rare. A Marti report would confirm if you have a diamond in the rough. I'd be checking that car out if I were you.
