Possible Driveshaft Problem, PLEASE HELP!

Hey, guys. A while ago, my car spun out and went off the road backwards. After that, i have heard weird rattling under the car when under acceleration. I mostly hear it and feel it through the pedal and seat under high RPM's, but sometimes ill hear it down low. My buddy told me that if any mud or dirt got on my U-Joints then the bearings couldve worn out and be causing the noise. This would mean that either my u-joints need to be replaced or my driveshaft is bent.It feels like something under the car is loose, but i got under it and couldnt find anything wrong. Has anyone had this issue or should i just get an aluminum driveshaft or could it be something else? Its really pissing me off, PLEASE HELP

First things first...Assuming you've done the basics like had tires balanced etc, then run your car into a driveline shop and have them do a full balance on it. You may have thrown a balance weight and if you did, that can throw it all out of sync quick. If you've got some miles on your car, you may as well have the u-joints swapped out. Cant hurt. If you're feeling it under the seat and up thri the pedle and steering wheel, its going to be the drive line just shaking the crap out of everything and it only gets worse. I would go through those steps first. An aluminum drive line is a good move. I did it on the Cobra and I lost 90% of the shakes that were famous for that model year.

Your x-pipe could not be bent right. I had a 98 gt with a O/R h-pipe, and every time I would get up to a pretty high speed it sounded like it was beating the crap out of my car.

Hmm, could be true
cuz i hit where the x-pipe connects to the catback. Well, the flange on the x-pipe has one of those movable flanges to connect to the catback and when i hit i broke the one on the catback that was welded loose. and it might be my X-pipe hitting something but doesnt seme like it. My catback was rubbing on my frame in the back where it goes over the axle and i fixed that, but maybe it just starts to beat on it since the axle jumps so much at higher speeds and stuff. Is his possible and if so, should i just get someone to weld the flange on the catback bakc into place??? Man, this is pissing me off soooo much, its sounds horrible and i hate riving her with that sound, but i have no choice, she's my daily driver.

buy a repair manual for your car and look up replacing the u joints. If you have the tools , they are relly not hard to do and they are cheap. It may be a good idea to get it on a rack and have a nmechanic take a look.

You might also want to check the distance between your exhaust pipes and the driveshaft. There's not a lot of space there in the first place so you might have knocked something loose. Also check your exhaust clamps to ensure they aren't hitting anything.

I suggest getting a haynes manual if you are going to replace your u-joint. The have instructions and diagrams in mine. I've never done it before but it doesn't seem to be too hard.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. Im having my buddy come over friday and we're gonna get the car up and check underneath and if we can't find anything, ill take it to have a mechanic check it out. if its just the U-joint, i can do that myself.
