So I go to start the stang, '91 5.0, and it cranked and cranked but didnt start. Didnt even try to. It has 150,000 miles on it and has not been started for 2 months or so. After fiddling around, checking for loose wires etc and no help at all, I wondered if it might be the pump. I heard one time if you take off the gascap, it might help a weak pump. I pull it off, and after a few cranks, it tries to start. Then it does start, but dies quickly. Repeating starts it get better and better until it will now start and run no problem. My question, what in the heck could cause this? I dont wanna drive it and get stranded somewhere. Thanks for any input.

When pumps go they just go and die....

Sitting that long I would say a battery issue, check your connections making sure they are all clean it may have coroded up a little. The cold weather tends to show a weak charging system a lot easier. Then I would put some dry gas in the tank and some fresh fuel. It might not be a bad idea to change the fuel filter if it has been awhile.
