My shaker 500 was skipping for the longest time, on burnt mp3 and other burnt CDs. I found out that if burn them slow (Like 4X) and use quality CDs. (Like memorex) Since then I have not had a problem. Hope this helps!

I don't know what version (Shaker) I have, guessing the latest since I have an 06. ?? My music ranges from 96kbps to 192 kbps and I burn on Verbatim CD-Rs at 52X everytime with Musicmatch and/or NERO. I've burnt 10-12 CDs and some of my songs were skipping during the first couple of weeks, but since then none have skipped. Even the same songs on the same CDs that were skipping before aren't skipping now. Can't explain it.

Since this last post the cd player has worked fine. It has not skipped at all. If anyone is having trouble with burnt cd's try doing this.

Yes, there is a TSB. I'm hoping they resolved it in the 06 anyway, but it also would reject discs if you scanned tracks too fast, it would say "Bad Disc" and spit it out.

Burning the cd's at lower speeds helped out in my brother's 05 F150 which seems to have the identical make headunit.
Since then I always burn the cd's at a slow burn rate.

Here is the TSB

I had mine replaced 2 times...the second time they damaged my dash and had to replace the whole thing. $1400 job that they did on their dime. I am done having that thing changed. Anyway, that is a good idea to burn CDs slower...I will try that. Thanks.

the shaker scratchs the cds everytime it changes CD so after a while your cd is changed alot in the shaker so it starts getting scratched so it starts skipping,,

solution: just burn the same cd if its scratched and it will play fine again till it skiping again

cds are cheap to buy and the songs are (nevermind)...
anyways thats how i deal with my shaker, i didn't want the dealers to replace it with the same defective unit, since they down know what is the problem or how to fix it.

I just had my 5th (!) Shaker 500 installed today. So far, no skips, but I've only listened to 2.5 songs. Generally it starts skipping on the first time I play a burned CD. I'll try getting some more expensive CDs and see if that helps.

I feel like they should just hand me the head unit and a screwdriver and I'll install it myself. At least this time they got the new unit programmed and plugged the dang fan controls back in.
