Post Pics of Your Mustang

The area where that shaker goes is pretty flat, doesn't have any reinforcement. I believe it's meant for a scoop there. Fairly straight forward to cut. Myself, I recently put some Stang vents on my Ranger as an experiment to see if I could do it before doing the same on my 07 Stang. The Ranger's hood is steel, not aluminum and has heavy reinforcement. I masked off the entire hood where the vents went. I obtained some metal reinforced cutting wheels from Harbor Freight, and the mandrel you use to put them in a drill. Drilled the corners with a half inch drill, then connected the corners with the cutting wheel. Be sure and cover the entire engine bay with a tarp or something before hand, it's messy. Then I used a rotary file to clean up the edges, painted the edges with flat black model enamel, and stuck the vents on.

The hood scoop on the Ranger used to be on the Mustang. The two small scoops on the passenger side are directly over the large cone filter.

In 2019, a guy in Poplar Bluff Missouri did the hood on my Lightning, including carbon fiber Stang vents. I have two of the same on the way for my Mustang. They'll probably collect dust until it gets warm though. We'll see.

I drilled 2 holes in opposite corners and used a jig saw to cut the opening and since the hood is aluminum, it cuts pretty easy. The whole process made me cringe but it was worth it in the end. It helps to have a buddy when taking the measurements as well and do follow the old adage of measure twice, cut once. The only other thing I did was zip tie the drain hose to something, it's kind of long and looks like it could move around possibly getting into trouble. I think you need to get a 3.5" hole saw, the directions will say for sure. You just put the hole in the shield someplace that the slinky tube they give you will fit. I am still using the factory airbox and the hose was a tight fit.

Here she is.

I got some new wheels and tires for my car finally. I went with 18x9 GT/CS style wheels from American Muscle. I went with different tires though as all the tires they offered were shorter than stock. I'd rather not lower my car and shorter tires would have made me want to. I ended up using a 265/45R18 Toyo Proxes that is just a tad taller than stock. The speedometer difference is 0.7 at 80mph and they don't rub or anything and I no longer feel the need to lower the car.

Looks great. I've been eyeing a set of staggered rims and tires from American Muscle. Just need to get the car back from the transmission shop. Stupid automatic has failed twice this year, last time after a bottom up rebuild. Switching to a stick.

Guess who’s back? I don’t know how many are around from my first tenure here, but I had to let my 2007 go about ten years ago. I was lucky enough to have to opportunity to buy it back this week and she’s officially mine again! And it’s now blown with a whole host of supporting mods.

Lots of time and money have gone into my wife's 2006 Mustang GT, since she first got it back in 2007.
