I would like to build a high compression 289/302 with solid lifters ported polished everything matched. It would have to run on race fuel these days but it would be interesting to see just how much one could get out of an all motor Real small block with some of the old tech and the new tech mixed.

Then you need to talk to Larry Hampton aka 1320stang, he hangs out here every once in a blue moon, used to be a regular, ain't noticed him here lately. He's got or had a very hot 289 with a tunnel ram and dual 4's in a strip car. Seems to me it was down into the tens in the 1/4 mile. Send him an email.

While it's not a genuine mix of old and new except for the block, there is a guy over on ******* that had a Mexican block 306 doing 9.60s @ 138 in a 2800lb Fox3...on a C8 crank no less.
