I am thinking about having my car dynotuned and a custom chip burned. As you can see from the mods in my sig it's a pretty simple combo and i'm pretty happy with the performance it puts out. However I'm curious if a dyno tune will help it out a lot or not? I know everyone says it improves the whole rpm range not just peak numbers but all i care about is wot and the car isn't below 3200rpms with wot. So what kind of 1/4 time improvments/hp tq number improvments have you guys seen with a custom dyno tune? Would it be worth the $450 for me to get one?

I picked up 34 rwhp... Well worth the money but my combo is a little more extreme than yours. If you don't plan on redoing the heads and intake anytime soon, I say it's a well worth investment and you will be happy with the car.. Car will start faster, run smoother, and probably get better gas mileage..

i agree, its worth the money to have a good dyno tune. not only does it make more power, but its more reliable and safer to your engine build. when i did some moderate engine mods, cam, heads, intake, and so on, the car ran like ****. it would idle choppy and eventually die because too much fuel was being dumped by the injectors. after the tune i picked up approx 26 wheel horse and the car with a decent cam 232/240 duration 565/575 lift respectively and it idles like it was a new car. not to mention the drivability throughout the entire rpm range. i know a lot of people are against computer dyno tuning, but for an efi car with mostly aftermarket products, i would definately recommend it. the car has gone from 320/334 at the wheel to 347/352 na. on a 125 shot those #'s went to 480/590. before the tune the car went 12.8 @108 best na, after the tune it went 12.1 @114. n20 went 11.007 @125, never cracked 10's due to ****ty et street tires.

I tuned my own car, with no chip or anything, just fuel pressure and timing...

When I rolled in = 259 rwhp

When I left = 272 rwhp

As far as any kind of chip or something, I wouldnt recommend it. I have seen plenty of mild comboes work perfect with no chip. Id say head to a dyno and tune it yourself...

You can tune part throttle too once in the computer I did this and car was much much better to drive. I picked close to 30rwhp from a good tune on dyno.

keep in mind that groverdill and blk91 both have blower cars.... they will gain a lot from a dyno tune. NA cars typically gain 10ish HP like 25th did. i researched this for a while too..... i am getting a personal tuner and a AF ratio meter and then putting it on the dyno.

not true

the dyno tune was done while the car was N/A.

a good tune is all the difference.

The power you gain depends on how close the car is before you hit the dyno. If you have changed your timing, and played with FP before, you may gain nothing. If you havent touched that, then you might see bigger gains. With my car I know it had the timing played with before the tune, therefore saw less than if I hadent touched anything.

As long as you leave with more power, and the A/F ratio is good, then be happy!

i picked up 4hp and 4lbs torque on dynojust two pulls . plan to do it agian and renting the dyno for an hour. to try and find a few more ponies.i agree i wouldnt spend the money on chip yet, save it and put it to the suspension its more critical than 5-6hp.

you can mess with timing and f/p all day long, that dosent not mean its been tuned.

custome tuning changes tables in the eec.
my cars A/F was almost dead on when I took it in for a tune. I till gained over 20 rwhp.

Its worth the money, not only in power but driveability.
