Post your Gauges

One of my favorite subjects. :D

Here's my setup, unchanged for a few years now:

My sig points towards my true gauge obsession. :p

That's clean, very nice.:nice:

BTW...79pacecar, what do you have a wideband for? I thought you were N/A.

Just becasue he is NA, doesnt mean that he doesnt need to tune it at all. My car runs really rich at WOT from 4000-6000 rpms.

79pacecar: i love those gauges, i really need to do it to mine.

I love the gauges at the top of the thread.

Oh I understand that he needs to tune the car, it's just that you don't see many naturally aspirated cars with a wideband and an A/F ratio gauge.

theres alot of sleeping Hp in cars that you cant get with just adjusting the timing and FP. I have a wideband and PMS, they are a very nice investment, but you get a few headaches learning to tune stuff yourself.

That's because wideband's are expensive and to log everything correctly with software it's even more expensive. It's usually left to Dyno shops when tuning.

Over on LS1tech a guy put a wideband on his N/A setup he was 10:1, it needs to be high 12s -13:1. There's a few ponies he will gain instantly from leaning his setup out.

I am officially jealous....I love the way that looks.

So...how much for a set of three? :D :nice:

I want gauges in the exact same place and that is the best mounting solution I've seen yet.

mr. yuk- when i first saw your guages i thought of some 80's spaceship...but i guess it sort of is.. :)

795.0Pacecar- do you think you could take a picture from you sitting in the driver seat? i always seem to be unhappy with every car's guages, but that might be something i might try to do with my car.

i could never understand why people get those huge tachs and other guages the car already comes with.

Cause stock gauges are not accurate at all. When the stock gauge sits at a predetermined spot after warmup and the needle sits on the M in the word "NORMAL" written down the oil gauge or the water temp gauge that has 2 numbers on it 130 and 270 and no numbers inbetween and the needle never really moves much how are you suppose to know if everything is working right? Same with the tach mine is off by 600rpm at 5500rpm not something you wanna guess on when your spraying down the track ;).

yes..not having numbers on them does piss me off...but mine don't just sit. and why not just make the stock gauges work properly?

Mine didn't just sit either but they didn't move much, infact according to the stock oil gauge i had really good oil pressure. I later added an autometer gauge and i was seeing 10psi at idle with a peak PSI of about 45-50 and it would drop down to about 40PSI at 6000rpm not good when your suppose to have 10psi for every 1000rpm. My stock water temp gauge would read at most 140* all the time i put an autometer one in and wow i cruise at 160* and sit in traffic at about 180*. Even stock gauges in new cars are not any good lol i don't think you can really get any of them to work how we want them to work. I know all the gauges in my cousin's 02 GT sit right in the middle of the gauge no matter what, while his autometer gauges are reading completely different.

The fact is having crappy stock gauges that have no numbers on them but white being good and red being bad is a very bad way to see how everything in your engine is working. Stock gauges are just dummy gauges.

ok my opions are...

the 79-86 dash...thats the best interior dash i have seen outta them years very nice if i ever get a 79-86... i will be asking you how you set those guages behind that looks great.

the ones that are stock with the blue bulbs looks great...nothing more needed.

the pure whites are ok, look like a newer cobras

the ones with the blues and reds and what nots:nono: definitally agree with the rice statement...not to my liking at all looks like a civic or something.

Glad you like the look of it. Hate to say it, but this setup isn't available for sale. One day maybe, but this part is custom, and not ready for production. Several critical details to perfect, then it's possible.

Besides, I kinda like having the only one around... :nice:

Actually have several one-off parts in my fox, it serves as a good test bed for ideas.

did you just scrape the green backing off the stock gauges and install blue bulbs? ive heard of that and like the looks of the white face during the day and blue at night.

Nope...the color of the gauges are actually blue. The stock incandescent bulbs put out a yellowish light which makes them appear green. The blue leds just make them show a darker blue than a white would.
