Power Down

Well I took my car for a little spin down the road because I couldnt help myself and when I started to excelerate in first gear the car was VERY low on power and then I hit second and it pulled a little bit better but the power was still not there. I have just done a AODE to T5 swap and have heard that you loose power, but I thougt that it was spose to be when your AODE was trying to shift, not the whole time you are trying to drive the car? There could be more reasons why this was happening, one being the car is not fine tuned yet (I just set up a dyno appt.)
But I would think that there would be a little more power then there was. If someone could just verify to let me know if this is normal tranny swap stuff or not. I just want to make it as easy as possible for the tuner to do his job when it arrives and not have to pay for him to fix things. I know I have been using these threads a lot latley, but they really are helping me get this project done and I am sorry for all the questions.

Ok, number one, did you swap out your computer for the T4MO yet?

Second, whoever told you that your 5 speed car would be slower than the AODE was full of brown stuff! I just did this swap and my car feels much quicker, I am very happy with the results. If your power is down you definately have another problem elsewhere.

Full of brown stuff:rlaugh:

i think i remember from another thread that he did not swap the PCM.
i think it feels like that because its pulling timing at the AODE shift points(?)

dont get too crazy driving your stang around til you sort out your computer issues.
i'm not sure if you could screw something up without the right PCM,but why take that chance.

Nope, def. did not switch the computers, I was waiting for the dyno to turn the aode off for me, I will make sure that I get to the dyno with a trailer. Just took the car out for a little test driver wont be doing that again don't want to mess anyting up. I cant wait til the dyno I am so excited to get my car tuned, it will be the first car I have compleated that has been fine tuned. I think maybe the car is running lean and the timing is off and the AODE is on......:notnice: I will keep in touch!

Make sure you go to the dyno with lots of questions. Make them work for their money! I sure did. I was paying a handsome amount of money to have my car tuned so i didn't mind being a PITA to them! But my tuner was actually very knowledgable and it was an awsome experience! I was really nervous though as they took my car high in the RPM range!

if I were you, I'd make another thread in the tuning forum and ask for a list of things to jot down and take with you. I did that when I went to the dyno and it helped. Things like fan control, tip in retard, etc.. usually the tuner will have a file made up with all that already done as a baseline and tune from there.

Also, make absolutely sure you get us a VIDEO!!!
