I have a 91 that I just picked up and i'm working out the bugs. I did some searching but couldn't get what I was looking for.

I'm having problems with both mirrors. when I operate the switch the drivers side will go up and out but not in or down. the pass will go up but I can hear the motor spinning to bring it in but the glass isn't moving. the pass will not go out or down. are the motors inside the mirrors. what do you guys think switch or switch and mirrors. thanks

Could be 2 problems. You could test the switch or just get a new one. They arent that much but the passanger side sounds like a mirror issue. Yes the moters arelocated inside the mirror but there are plastic control rods inside that break. If the mirror is hit for some reason these rods can and do break. Be careful removing the glass. The mounting for this glass can break easily. To remove the motor unit you have to move the mirror left and right to get a screw drive inside. This is where you can break things so be very very careful!

You might want to take the mirror switch apart and clean it inside. When I installed my power mirrors, they didn't work all directions, but worked when I applied power directly to the mirrors. After cleaning them up, they worked fine for a while. I think I spilled a drink on it since they are acting up again. As for the one mirror that you hear running, it is a mirror problem.

Good luck on it!
