power steering fluid. No ?

I have just discovered that the Ford manual and the dipsticks on my power steering pumps (69's) say to use automatic transmission fluid. No mention of power steering fluid which I have apparently been using all these years. The PS fluid sez it meets Ford specs, just don't use in a Honda.

Any harm in using PS fluid instead of AT fluid? Do I need to drain and flush?

i doubt it will hurt it using PS fluid instead but i've always used type F tranny fluid in mine until the last go round and started using synthetic PS fluid and it leaks worse than ever now, good thing the car isn't road worthy at the moment. the entire ps system will soon be rebuilt again and i will use a synthetic type F this time around instead. with all new everything it shouldn't leak anymore.

You can find type F fluid cheaper tha p.s. fluid if you look around.

I guess I'll drain and replace with type F. I've got plenty around for all my other vehicles. Maybe it will cure the the minor leaks.
