Power Steering Hose Help!!!!

I have a 67 coupe that I put a Ford Motorsports 302 and super comp. headers. The car is a factory P/S car and all the presure hoses I get run right past the headers. They last about 2 months and pop where they run past the header. Ive tried to put a spark plug boot shield around it with no luck. Maybe Im routing it wrong. Please help, $20 is getting expensive and frustrating.

You need custom hoses that are longer, You can route them down by the oil pan. These will cost more than $20 buck though. I would say around $65. Alot of Napa stores have this service. Also make sure that you have them help in place. I have mine by the block attached to the motor mount

I also attached mine to the motor mount but the stock hoses were long enough. With the original routing, the hose has a big loop that is not needed this way.

Get pressure and return hoses for a 69. You will also need the bracket and insulator that holds the hoses up at the crossmember.

69 hoses go down from the pump and below the motor mount, pretty much keeping them away from header heat.

Hmmm and they will work for a 1967 coupe? If I knew about this I would have gone that route. I just changed all of my power steering houses. Oh yeah, is it common for the shorter houses to be bent? I know they have to have some give since its always moving but when I took the orginal off the leak was in the center of the tube. Plus I noticed it rubbed against another part. Sorry for being so generic with my wording but I'm new to muscle cars. I contacted one of the members here to get seats because i know the next time round the seats will be shot! I had to over tighten on of the bolts since a small leak was still leaking.

69 hoses should work on a 67. Only thing that might be different is the pressure hose fitting on the back of the pump.

We have had Cougar Club members install 69 hoses on their 67-68 Cougars.

Order a set of PS hoses for a 67 big block application and you will be all set. The big block cars ran the lines under the motor mount due to clearance issues with exhaust manifolds. This will also ensure compatiblity with your PS pump and avoid the need for leaky adapters. I did this with my 68 and it worked perfectly.

If you figure out how long you want the hoses to be, take the measurements and your old hoses to any hydraulic hose shop and they will custom make them for you exactly to fit. Best of all they will cost less than from Ford.

Thanks man!!! I went to NAPA and looked them up for a big block and I didnt get the actual one for it but they had a misc. listing that I had to adapt but worked perfect. Thanks for all the help guys!!!!!!!
