I have my new 347 running with a 87 pump and the stock slave in my 69. When I tried to turn the steering wheel when running it keeps jerking back and forth. I have used the smaller fitting in the slave for the pressure hose. Is this just air in the lines or is my plumbing wrong.
Thanks

the problem is that you dont have enough pressure or volume from the 87 rack and pinion pump to supply the power steering ram in the 69. the ram requires far more pressure and volume than the rack and pinion does. get the right pump and you should be good to go.

If the steering wheel is turning lock-to-lock, back and forth, when the engine is running - you have the two short hoses between the control valve and the power cylinder crossed up.

my thoughts exactly. i had a big bruise on my arm for a long time when i was much younger from doing the exact same thing. if i were to do that now i would probably break my arm. started the car with my arm through the spokes in the steering wheel in case you're wondering

Thanks Guys. I switched the 2 small hoses and it works great. I can see where it can hurt you if your not watching out.
:Word: So how does it feel in comparsion to the PS system with the stock pump? I know of a few people who were doing this for improved feel, but I never did get to hear the results.
