I'm installing a rebuilt steering rack on my '93 and the rack came with two new seals and two new o-rings. I can see where the teflon seals belong, but I don't remember seeing any o-rings on the pressure and return lines at disassembly. Does anyone know where these are supposed to be installed, if they're supposed to be installed at all? Thanks for the help.

sure i can tell you. i just put in a p/s pressure line today, while the motor/trans are out. the teflon seal, as you know, goes on the nut, between the hex part and the threads. if you hold the tube pointing away from you, and pull the nut back (away from the end of the tube), you should see a small groove where the o-ring should go. my hose came with only one o-ring, and the other one was installed already.

When I installed my rebuilt rack, I did not use rubber O-rings. I used the teflon washers but the rubber I did not. They do not leak and all seems well. I could not tell that the factory had rubber o-rings at all, this is why I didnt reinstall any.

I never changed th black o rings and i just installed to return hose with out changing anything my fingers are crossed.
I feel changing th rack and all its gresy neck sraining hell along the way was way understated in this forum by most members.
