Hey all... ive got a little problem, thought maybe someone could help. My power steering has been pretty weak for the last week or so.. so i went and bought some power steering fluid. Right as i started to go home, i was making a turn and hear a loud click/pop, in the steering system, and i lost all power steering. Adding fluid did not help at all. Any suggestions about what might be broken. Stock pump on a 289.. 1967 with new hoses. Thanks in advance

I had a similar problem although i have a '70. Im not too sure about the differences in the setup. The bushings were torn through the bracket that holds the rod-end of the hydraulic power cylinder. Just my 2 cents.

thanks.. its gettin towed home tomorrow, so me and my buddies will take a look at it and see if we cant figure it out. It wont even steer full crank because of the lack of power... or something jammin the steering rod.

might be something in the pump broke and caused the control valve to get clogged, and since its clogged nothing will release pressure for the slave cylinder to move, thus keeping you from steering.
